This meeting will bring together a diverse range of experts across the world working on different aspects of the biology of the X chromosome, which has gained a lot of attention in recent years. Since the last “X-inactivation meeting” in 2023, we have seen major advances at different levels: (i) the dynamics and regulation of human X-chromosome inactivation and reprogramming, thanks to the rapid development of new in vitro models; (ii) the evolutionary diversity of mechanisms underlying sex determination and X-chromosome regulation, thanks to the increased use of non-canonical model organisms; (iii) the contribution of sex chromosomes to differences in development and disease between the sexes, thanks to an ever-growing awareness and interest regarding sex differences in research and clinics. These topics will be the highlight of the current meeting, with a focus on ongoing and unpublished work. Moreover, after a first meeting in Siberia in 1999 and four subsequent meetings in Europe, this will be the second time that the international “X-inactivation meeting” happens in Asia, allowing it to reach different audiences compared to the previous meetings.
